Colorado Springs police serve search warrant for murder suspect, suspect still not detained

Police search home for murder suspect turn up empty

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UPDATE: The Colorado Springs Police Department has confirmed Saturday’s warrant service was in hopes of locating Edwin Figueroa, 26.

Police believe Figueroa is involved in the fatal shooting that took place outside Club La Casota around 1 a.m. Friday, which is located at the intersection of Circle Drive and Airport Road, by the Valley Hi Golf Course.

When police arrived, they found a man with apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Colorado Springs police are investigating the death as a homicide.

CSPD has confirmed TEU has cleared the scene. They say there are no additional threats to the community and Violent Crimes will be executing a search warrant.

Police told KRDO when they arrived to the home, they used TEU tactics to try and get the alleged murder suspect to come out. After several techniques, authorities discovered the suspect was not inside the home.

They are bringing back a Violent Crimes Unit to continue searching the home for any evidence that might lead to the suspect’s arrest.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking those near the 6200 block of Riverdale Drive to secure their residences as they serve a felony warrant suspect near the area.

Police say anyone living near the east side of Tutt Boulevard, south of Dublin Boulevard, and north of Stetson Hills Boulevard is asked to remain inside their homes with their doors and windows locked.

The public is also asked to avoid the area at this time. It has been reported that the suspect at large is in connection to a murder case.

CSPD says Lieutenant Black is on the way to the scene and TEU (Tactical Enforcement Unit) are already there.
